Helyx™ HE-40 "The Urban Turbine"™
A Vertical Axis Turbine international patent pending
Oregon Wind Corporation proudly introduces a revolutionary new technology that will offer affordable, portable, renewable power generation anywhere it is needed. The Helyx™ Urban Turbine™ design overcomes many of the limitations of propeller-style turbines (noise, vibration, bird kill), making it appropriate for urban environments as well as remote locations.

Features and Benefits:
- Appropriate for urban environments, remote locations, anywhere power is needed
- Appropriate for all temperatures and conditions, including snow and ice and strong winds
- Allows for production of power where it is used, avoiding “grid” transmission problems
- Runs silently
- Produces almost no vibration
- Safe for wildlife (birds view it as a solid object)
- Requires no tail assemblies, slip ring connectors, high wind turbine blades or high elevation
mounting towers
Power and Operation:
- Starts producing power at low wind speed (approx. 5 mph)
- Utilizes wind from any direction, regardless of turbulence or speed
- Does not “cut out” at high wind speeds, self-limiting design protects from damage
- Generates power from a wide range of wind speeds (approx. 40 watts at a rated wind speed of 28 mph)
- Scalable to larger sizes, potentially increasing power production to kilowatts
Durability, Installation
& Maintenance:
- Extremely durable – built to last for decades
- Few moving parts
- Parts independently replaceable
- Wings are constructed of high-impact recycled TPO plastic (recycled car bumpers)
- Base and mounting brackets are steel and/or aluminum
- Designed for ease of installation and maintenance – no special equipment or training needed to install
HE-40 Options and Uses
- Can be coupled with photovoltaic panels for increased power and reliability
- Options include lighting plus smart electronics and battery systems for ultimate efficiency
- Allows for self-contained streetlight utilizing LED lamping (click here to see a concept image)
HE-40 Groupings
- Multiple turbines do not impact each other when closely spaced
- Multiple units can be linked in order to “grid tie” via a specialized wind inverter
- Multiple turbines can be mounted on the same pole or on the same plane
- Can be mounted on top of buildings or individual posts to create a “wind forest”
- Can be stacked to create a “wind wall” to generate more power
